Access Through The Arts' 2nd Annual Photographic Competition took place at the Capital DanceSport Championships from August 23th - 25th, 2007 at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center in Alexandria, VA. Photographers were allowed to shoot at the evening sessions. First, second, and third place winners were awarded $500, $250, and $100 respectively. The winners were announced and presented with their awards at the Championship Award Ceremony on Saturday evening. Selected entries will be exhibited at Alliance Dance Institute in Alexandria, Virginia and later published in the North American DanceSport Almanac.

This year’s juror was Jennifer Poggi who is the Deputy Director of Photography at U.S. News & World Report in Washington, D.C. She began her career as a photo assistant with the Associated Press in New York. From 1996 to 1998 she worked as a picture editor for the AP covering national, international and sports news. In 1998 she joined U.S. News as an assistant picture editor working in the magazine's Nation section. In 2005, Poggi was a visiting professor at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications where she worked with a military picture editing class.
